i think all software should have something like finder.app command+i. a screen that just shows you every piece of information it has about the thing you're looking at
ive been thinking about signal's little info screen that you can open on any message and how novel and groundbreaking it feels that i can see both the time a message was sent by my correspondent and the time my phone received it. i think it shouldn't feel novel and groundbreaking
also i am just now finding out that mastodon does not record separate timestamps for when a post was received and when the remote instance claims it was created
also i think mastodon should record *why* a post was fetched/received because this is still one of the greatest mysteries of online. every time i start to feel confident that i know all the reasons why my instance might know of a post, someone says that on a full moon mastodon goes and downloads every post starting with the letter T from instances with even IDs in the database
