like my biggest issues with the game are that it really feels like it cannot decide what it wants the vibe to be, in a way that feels really noncommittal
like, it's just a chill normal hike in the woods. maybe some weird stuff happens, like you fall when trying to climb somewhere, but whatever.
actually no, you're being spied on and it's very serious. there's an entire science camp of people spying on you trying to see what your life is like and can tell you and your boss are being flirty.
actually no, it's just some guy whose son died when hiking when he wasn't supposed to be allowed anywhere nearby, and decided to take it the wrong way and hide in the woods for years.
aw, guess the game is over now. guess that ultimately none of it mattered.
like, on one hand you could argue that Henry being a specific character mattered a lot for the story, but on the other, they vary the dialogue options so much he is literally just Nice Guy. and so it's hard to tell whether they want me to literally be him, aspire to be him, escape into him, or just listen to his story. you can't do all this at once
it just feels like the game is mostly a nothing burger with some nice scenery and some dialogue options which explicitly don't affect the plot and idk, it feels like I should be asking myself why I'm playing
