Enshittification is tiring, especially when you know it's gonna happen and you can do little to stop it. Not like you even could donate to Firefox the project if you wanted to.

@noiob you can, but that money need not go to Firefox, and Mozilla has demonstrated often enough that it doesn't care about Firefox

@noiob I'm currently led to believe that Mozilla foundation money does not go to Firefox or at least not significantly so. They may be funding other nice projects with that, but if I want to support Firefox, a donation to the Mozilla foundation does not seem to be the right way. @noiob then again, it's not like I even have an amount of money to throw that would make an impact. But I think this is also what is stopping a lot of others from donating, because it seems like you cannot make a donation to Firefox specifically (unlike for thunderbird, where that is possible; it is led by the for-profit MZLA, under the Moz Foundation).

I understand that (the) Mozilla(s) have to keep making money so they can pay devs so Mozilla keeps being a competitive web browser but god

@noiob they are being paid by the Mozilla Corporation, as far as I'm aware. While I could throw money at the foundation and hope it finds its way there, I would like that to be certain.

I'm not even sure money could legally flow from the foundation to the corporation for developing firefox. And Moz Corp's strategic realignment plan features a "right-sizing [of] investments in Firefox-adjacent businesses"
