damn homeassistant is deprecating just. running it. you know, as a program. now the two supported ways to run HA are in a container or as a full OS

apparently the recommended transition path from "HA core" (which is what it's called when you just install homeassistant and run it like a normal piece of software. which im not sure why HA is pretending not to be a normal piece of software) is to switch to the container but there is like zero guidance on how to keep a zigbee dongle working from inside a container and i anticipate it being Annoying with an uppercase A so i will simply continue to run "pip install homeassistant" and then "hass" like some kind of cave person until the day it breaks terribly and my lightbulbs and smart plugs explode and kill me

@codl you just need to mount the device into the container, it's pretty simple once you figure out the right mount point
