@vaporeon_ @onfy SATA is already hotpluggable. PCIe is technically hotpluggable

@onfy @vaporeon_ I've hotplugged SATA drives before, you just gotta mark them as removable in EFI (or do it with sth like a CD drive)

heck, there used to be laptops with hotpluggable sata slots for drives

@noiob @onfy Can confirm, I've also hotplugged SATA disks recently, just the motherboard chipset needs to support it, otherwise you'll have to reboot the system anyway, but it worked fine for me

I think she meant not trying this at home with PCIe?

@vaporeon_ @noiob that and I thought the power connectors would short

@onfy @vaporeon_ sata power (and PCIe too I think) is designed to connect the important pins first)

@onfy @noiob With SATA, I didn't manage to mess it up even when very clumsily hotswapping SATA disks with my paws
So I'd say not to worry about it

@noiob @onfy Laptops with hotpluggable SATA (and not eSATA) slots? :O
May I see? Any pictures of these laptops?
