ok, I attempted to put plop on the CF card

I think it booted... but the screen is corrupted!

I wonder if something is wrong with the screen, there's a chipset incompatibility, or the bootsector has.... problems

I've also realised that trying to blindly boot a CD will be a problem... my CDs are all put away!!

yeah I'm not sure where my windows 98 CD or any of my CD-RWs are but the way I've stacked my CDs sure is horrifying

I can see my copy of windows 7 which won't work for multiple reasons, among them is the lack of a DVD drive

hmmmm yeah without a way to boot an OS that can read a CF card or a way to burn a CD I'm kinda screwed on using this laptop. no USB...

@onfy I recently learnt that a lot of pre-USB boot machines will do netboot if nothing else exist, and it's apparently fairly easy to host something locally

@onfy I mean if my only thing to go by is "has a CF card slot and a CD drive" an ethernet jack isn't out of the question
