Does anyone have experience with USB 3 to USB C cables or adapters?

They do seem to exist though the fact that they are all entirely no-name Chinese brands makes me think this isn't going to be the win I'd like.

@janusfox you mean A-to-C, right? USB 3 is a spec version, not a connector

I think an issue with this is that the C connector is reversible, so it'd need smarts in the cable to adapt that to a USB-A connector. The chinese cables are probably all USB 2

@noiob Yeah, good point. This old motherboard has USB 3.0 or 3.1 female A connectors, and I want to connect a Quest 2 headset which has a male USB-C connector.

Apparently it isn't strictly necessary to use USB-C with the Quest 2. Though cables that adapt the two are often listed as "charging cables" which is a bit concerning.

@janusfox you can get cables that adapt the motherboard USB 3 connector (which has pins for two USB 3 ports) to a USB-C socket, maybe that's your best bet? I know that the long cables for VR headsets that actually have USB 3 data can cost a pretty penny

@noiob Oh, very interesting idea, I'll have to look into that, thanks!
