trans pol, GICs, UK
Going through a uk trans survey and
"Have you ever tried to access any gender affirming medical services?"
I mean, I'm assuming they mean GICs (& private doctors)
but I would not call GICs 'gender affirming' by any stretch (in social role or individual-level function/experience)
UK trans pol, trans survey ramblings
There's a list of great-sounding services and "Have you ever accessed these?"
If you tick "want to, but haven't" the only options are "I'm on a waiting list" or "other"
Like, point me to the waiting list of a GIC that provides half those things! I'll jump on it. As far as I was told, they weren't even available as options unless you go private (and yknow, £££££).
(I do wonder what proportion of people writing this have actually been through the NHS gender system. It feels written by well-intentioned cis folks, but maybe I'm wrong on that)

Herein lies the reason spent my late teens reading a tonne of Kafka/Camus/Foucault
"Oh! This. This is exactly what I'm experiencing, yes. Well described."
