I like Hitman's solution of
"You can destroy the evidence on security cameras, if you make your way into the room where they're controlled from.. Which is, funnily enough, usually highly secure. GLHF."
Hitman has a lot of concessions wrt realism, most that I agree with, some that I don't, some they should've taken further.

They'll give up searching eventually, but they'll keep their guns out, be more alert, go around telling their buddies "Hey, stay sharp! We've got someone creeping around." etc.
