I just watched all the Mad Max movies (except Furiosa ofc) My calculations for the timeline are as follows:

Mad max: ~5y BF (Before Fall)
Road Warrior/MM2: 2Y BF
THE FALL (199X)
Furiosa: 14Y AF
Thunderdome: ~16Y AF
Fury Road: 33Y AF

The clearest piece of data is that Capt Walker flew the children from Sydney the year of the poxyclips / Fall. They give a date that looks like 1997 but its scraped out, and they had to have been in that location for a while before that search party left them.

Also by Fury Road max rockatansky should be in his 60s, which was probably the intent when it was to be mel gibson, but switching actors to the fortyish tom hardy messed up the timeline

but then we get this line of text from the trailer of Furiosa.. which would puts Fury Road at _60_ years AF and Max, who was in his 20s in the collapse, would be 80+ years old during Fury Road, which is completely ridiculous. so basically its "whatevs"

@cargo The explanation I've heard is that "Max stories" are the tall tales of the wasteland, that grow and change over time.
