as someone who almost never gets a healthy amount of sleep, i've noticed that the days where i couldn't fall asleep are so so much worse than the days when i woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep

it makes sense, presumably in the latter case i finished a REM cycle and woke up on my own terms, while in the former case i didn't get to properly rest before being forced awake

but i wouldn't have expected the difference to be so stark. it's like night and day

@monorail oh yeah. waking up mid-cycle can suuuper-screw up your day

i actually use alarms that try to detect when one finishes up to half an hour earlier than i need to wake up, and even though i'm technically getting even less sleep, i still feel like 100x better
