@cinnamon one of the first things i did my early copy of windows 8 was make a super-light lisp dev environment

i too, found many cons

@cinnamon (okay, but on a more serious note, nothing really stands out about 11 for you? D:)

windows 11 rambling

@thingywott i like how they're centering some of the UI elements, as the center of the screen will be where you're looking most, and it's more comfortable on wider screens ime

but otherwise they've changed a lot of things that i regularly use in ways i don't like, like replacing tiles with pinned apps, removing the picture icons of the settings menu, etc

windows 11 rambling

@cinnamon ah dang, yeah

it looks like it's fun with any preexisting muscle memory, and a tease when you try to look for things that just poofed into the ether, huh?

windows 11 rambling

@thingywott the new separate widget screen feels like a step backward, being less accessible and taking up ay more space than the live tiles that were in the old start menu, especially with news articles at the bottom that you can't remove

windows 11 rambling

@cinnamon oof, you can't remove those? D:

and it's true! live tiles were pretty easy to just casually pay attention to as you did other things~
