there are about a billion things i have no strong opinion about but seeing the discourse happen about them still pisses me off because it's just two sets of people making valid points supporting their argument followed by "and people who disagree with me don't know what the fuck they're talking about"
like i don't even have a horse in the race but it's so clear that you've never even talked to anyone who disagrees with you. you don't have to agree with someone to understand why they hold a position and writing it off as "just a thing people who don't know what they're talking about say for no reason" is not helpful
@monorail always neat when realizing people often have a reason for thinking the things they do
and yeah! sometimes people have bad reasons, but also sometimes they're just different ones--and it's okay to make peace with that if they don't actually harm anyone
