I've got a long-standing beef with the term nsfw

not because of the office work centric thing though that's a valid beef

I'm having trouble expressing what really bothers me but like, i think the idea it's trying to express is very nebulous and dependent on the speaker, and yet a lot of people seem to think that when they say nsfw that is crystal clear

@codl oh gossssh, this is where my double standard of applying the least charitable interpretation of it to myself, but the most charitable for everyone else came from

it's simultaneously so exceedingly ambiguous and ubiquitous, and i also super-don't want to make others feel unhappy, that i really can't help but notice the emotional no-man's land encompassing the juxtaposition of its extremes

@codl my biggest problem with it is a matter of consent, because its vagueness really undermines the entire idea of clearly communicating your boundaries, which sucks because that's the single most important concept for that entire sphere
