"who wants to play Realistic Monopoly? it's exactly like the normal game except the values of all the properties are multiplied by a thousand"
"that sounds terrible"

@typhlosion I’d like a monopoly game where th aim is to make a working non capitalist system tbh?
but in more or less detail, for example, creating a democratic system of govement, or working out healthcare systems.
@Doggo you may be interested to know Monopoly is derived from an older, somewhat more complicated educational game called the Landlord's Game, which was primarily *anti*-monopolist
@typhlosion oooh! I did know it was derived from an earlier game that was anti monopoly, but not the name! I’ll hsve to look that up. Thanks!,

@00dani well, yes, but Realistic Monopoly is even worse
@typhlosion @00dani who wants to play naomi monopoly. its like regular monopoly but without the game pieces or rules and instead you just cuddle a bunch
@b3yond i always figured the assumption there was that the players' characters already had jobs and were using them to fund the landlording venture
@b3yond could also just be a board-game abstraction for pacing purposes that i'm ascribing too much meaning to!! but yeah maybe
in *really* realistic monopoly the property values are multiplied by 10k, and also you need a loan to buy a car to be able to move squares at all, so you start out in debt. your salary for passing the GO square remains $200
