im gonna make a separate /home partition so i can try other distros if i feel like it
time to... figure out how to do that, exactly
@typhlosion i can forsee the manjaro to debian pipeline
@EeveeEuphoria oh boy im looking forward to all my software being three years old
@EeveeEuphoria (i say this tongue in cheek, i hope thats obvious)
@typhlosion you'll be yearning for a morsel of stability, and you'll question why windows users ever demand the latest and greatest at the cost of constant blue screens
@EeveeEuphoria remember that i am also a windows user. this is what system restore points are for
@typhlosion system restore points that don't restore the system at any given time ever
that's my experience with windows anyways
@EeveeEuphoria shrug
@typhlosion fwiw linux has an equivalent system, but that system Actually Fucking Works, especially on btrfs filesystems (idk if manjaro uses that by default or not)
@typhlosion oh wait i think manjaro actually has the software for it baked in so i think it should, it's called timeshift
on arch linux it'll run every time you do a system upgrade i think
@EeveeEuphoria oki
fwiw i have almost never had a problem that necessitated actually using a system restore point and the few times ive used them have been fine. maybe this is because i am not especially cavalier with my computer usage
@typhlosion i haven't been either, i don't do anything weird but i guess windows just really fucking hates me lmao
@typhlosion but yeah timeshift works well and has saved my ass multiple times when something got borked
i can't wait for https://xkcd.com/456/ to be me
