Finally going back and rewatching all of Adventure Time. Man, that show sure ended different than it began.

season 1 Ice King hits *way* different now.

also when exactly did the title card drop gimmick stop happening? I remember it just kinda stopped at one point and then its disappearance was lampshaded once

man how did this goofy random-humor show for kids turn into something so deep and complicated?

I mean okay I know exactly how (Rebecca Sugar decided that Ice King needed a tragic backstory and it all, er, snowballed from there) but still. How.

I'd forgotten just how much this show originally relied on LOUD SCREAMY!!! stuff like so many other cartoons of the era

also I wonder if people think the Vorpal Hand gag from Wizard is considered by some to be foreshadowing for the, uh, grass thing later.

I mean it totally wasn't, but, y'know how people like to read things into things like this.

also it's great going back and recognizing all the guest stars who appeared so much in season 1. Mark Hamill, Michael Dorn, etc.

I feel like the famous actors also became way less frequent later on in the show, but also whenever they did appear it was even more special.

Fionna and Cake spoilers

I mean okay like. The episode where Simon meets the alternate Marceline where she *didn't* have Simon's kindness?

Not really that far-fetched, in retrospect.

Oh right, she wasn't actually a jerk, she just liked messing with Finn

Ah right, Billy is the episode where Jake drops the best wisdom of the entire show, "Sucking at something is the first step to being sorta okay at something." I quote that all the time, especially when I'm feeling bad about something I've only just started at.

@fluffy i usually say this in the form "the first step to be good at something is to be bad at it. the second step is to do it anyway"

@typhlosion @fluffy But step zero is to realize that school and society aggressively push the myth of innate talent, and condition us to give up quickly, while claiming the exact opposite.
