re: food, kind of a culture question
@typhlosion I haven't personally had that exact thing but... Have you had fish skin before? I'm quite used to it and haven't found skin on any animal bitter yet. (I used to be really sensitive to bitter, although mostly in vegs). If you've had it, at least it's a point in it not being less experienced palate, and a point towards the fish being the cause.
A quick google shows mackerel can taste bitter if it gets stomach fluid on it, or apparently dark bits of flesh can be bitter/fishy because it's more oily. Idk how oil is bitter, but no mention of the skin specifically. Doesn't sound like either of those options if it really was contained to the skin. Unless the chef got some gunk on him and handled the outside of it?
