I guess i'll echo the sentiment of some others: we came to this spot as a less hectic and somewhat more tightly guarded space than the flagship.
there are a looot of new folks coming here seemingly just as runoff from the flagship having issues, and there's nothing wrong with that in principle, but please be extra sure to be respectful and maybe we can all learn something from each other. :>
@aweiss oh for sure! i honestly am chalking this turbulence up to the tech being very new and having blown up very recently. hopefully when the dust settles people will be more able to find instances that work for them.
for now we gotta work with what we got and report whatever problems we can't fix ourselves
@typhlosion Thanks for that FAQ. Since the local timeline seems to be an important concept in mastondonland, it seems like the theme/notes column on the list of instances (https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/blob/master/docs/Using-Mastodon/List-of-Mastodon-instances.md) should be more specific about community aims.
Mellow/less hectic are great goals, but that's not clear right now when someone stumbles onto the server looking for respect and moderation.
