family, closeted gay stuff?
i have a cousin i'm pretty sure has some measure of homosexuality in him (s'what i figured as i saw him grow up before we stopped seeing that part of the family) and he just announced we was dating a girl on facebook
maybe i'm projecting or something and he really is straight, or maybe he's just bi and hiding it, but i'm feeling some things right now about it
family
@vahnj Yikes. *nod* Is this a kind of situation where you could privately reach out to him with a 'hey is everything cool?'
Like maybe not RIGHT after he announces he's dating a girl because, awkward, but at some point?
family
@vahnj (Like, to be clear, take this with many grains of salt, I have no idea how to do the dealing-with-family thing pretty much ever, and the only reason I ever figured out my brother was queer is because he forgot to log out of his yahoo groups on the family computer one time; he was lucky I used the computer next instead of my parents. ;))
family
@indi to be frank i'm not comfortable reaching out to him with any kind of indicator. if i'm wrong, i just outed myself to my judgmental, shitty family.
family
@vahnj Yeah, fair enough. :(
family, closeted gay stuff?
@vahnj Ooof, yeah, that sort of thing can be awkward and confusing, yeah. :\
(Though really if he's bi then dating a girl isn't necessarily HIDING anything...)
family, closeted gay stuff?
@indi he's from a super judgmental religious family in oklahoma. trust me, if he's bi, he's hiding it. :|
family
just sucks though because we stopped seeing that part of the family because they're your stereotypical judgmental christian family full of fire and brimstone despite supposedly being a part of the same church as my parents
not that my parents aren't free of problems but they sure don't tell people they're going to hell and aren't gonna not tell close family about someone passing away like that part of the family did
