@noelle @grime_witch the thing that made it funny for me is it highlights just how absurd the premise of the show is
The show isn't at all anything but low brow humor wrapped in a pretty package that reads "do not open unless you're smart" which ofc makes anyone who opens it feel smart for getting the jokes. This episode is one of the few that doesn't wrap it in that package and instead just slams it in your face
@vahnj @grime_witch See, what interested me about the first third was the apparent willingness to commit to something else. Until Rick encounters the roach, it's a really bleak and almost existential episode where Rick is actually facing consequences for his perennially terrible decision-making.
Then the episode gets over it and nope, Rick was Super Kick Ass the whole time as usual.
@grime_witch @noelle anyway that willingness to drop that pretense was why I liked the episode. It's one of the few that is really honest of what the show is about. If you watched the pilot (the really gross one that's just doc and Marty, don't watch it if you haven't seen it) it's really apparent what kind of creativity drives the show
