Mastometa question, comparison to birdsite
Do we have a problem with Mastodon celebrities like Twitter did?
I am always worried about falling into twitters pitfalls and to some degree I think it's unavoidable but that's why I want a culture of friendliness when possible here and that's gotten really hard lately I feel like so this feels like an important question to ask

@Gargron people who are too culturally significant to the platform to ignore and end up attracting an unsustainable amount of followers

@Gargron nah that doesn't mean you shouldn't be a part of the discussion
it's contextually different for you - as the primary developer and leader of the platform that's a pretty natural thing to have happen - but I recognize that you do try to contribute to the friendliness and kindness of the platform, so this isn't necessarily oriented towards you
but in general i just worry when there are people with tons of followers and few follow backs

@Gargron mostly because when you concentrate lots of people like this you end up with popular cliques of people who effectively end up owning a lot of cultural context around certain circles despite the fact that they themselves don't intentionally interact with those people
too much cultural power given to people who don't engage in the broader community but instead "hand down", for lack of a better way to put it

@Gargron i'm not asking for an answer
i'm asking if it's becoming a problem at all yet
