@vahnj Good point. I imagine he's mostly addressing journalists and professionals, i.e. folks who are likely to read The Awl. That crowd could probably stand to use less Twitter without taking much of a hit to their paychecks.
The fact that anyone, anywhere, might feel like they're financially dependent on Twitter is kind of fucked up, though. Not necessarily their fault, but a fucked up situation.

@nolan people can leave any service that doesn't work for them but if you have to work for the service (content production) in order to survive and it does nothing to actually help abuse you get you have to live with the abuse

@nolan like yeah twitter is bad but when you are literally going to starve if you don't put yourself out there you can't just tell them to switch careers. Incredibly privileged assumption of its use
