Mental health and tech

@polymerwitch@toot.cat Yes. Please go talk with a doctor. Getting treatment, accepting where you are at, and taking big breaks is important.

I really hope your employer will be accommodating because it will very likely require you to take time for yourself. As a tech worker you likely have short-term disability insurance so do not forget you can rely on this if you take more than 2 weeks off.

I hope you are able to take care of yourself!

Mental health and tech - my story

@polymerwitch@toot.cat I started having a problem focusing on work. I would end up staring at my monitor for hours a day, not really conscious that I was just doing... nothing.

I had developed a severe anxiety and I was disassociating hard. I've dealt with clinical depression for most of my life and when I come back, it would hit me like a sack of bricks. I had more than one serious breakdown.

It's ok. Where you are is not your failure. Your struggle is real.
