Dude. My day job finally confirmed that we each have eight hours of paid volunteer time coming. Can anyone recommend a good charity in the area, especially one that suits my personality and putative skills? n.n; No sense in letting them to go waste...
@zebratron2084 OOH NO WAIT I KNOW something that is timely, needed, and makes particular use of your skillset: immigrant assistance centers. help people figure out where to get what they need, help them connect that with the stuff they know at home, as it were?
@troodon Huh. That's a really good idea, that's probably the first thing I'll look into.
@zebratron2084 that's frickin awesome! :D of course selfishly I'm like "WILDLIFE REHAB OMG" but, well. XD putting a bit of actual *thought* into your question, first idea is (again of course) the library system, but they're already full of librarians. second idea is a homeless/rehab/abuse shelter, where you can help people find the resources they need, which might mean you don't have to deal with the actual clients at all. ;)
