I love Anthracite so very much, but being able to work in complete and utter privacy and silence, without a distractible (albeit adorable) bohemian loon 10' away... That's feelin' pretty luxurious right now. :D
Living with Anthy again has been really good, better than I ever anticipated. But there are days I am seriously tempted to see how expensive, say, a decommissioned portapotty would be to set up in our living room. Something with enough room for a desktop shelf. Ideally, something that is perfectly soundproof.
OTOH, it is a fucking MIRACLE and speaks to how good Anthy is to me that I can even work with another sapient being in social-radar range at all...

Have you considered maybe a recording booth instead? A few hundred for a cheap one. Few thousand for a really good one.
Or there's always someone dumping cubical bits that you can stick together to make one.

@001zlnv The portapotty was mostly a joke, of course, but the recording booth? If they're really that cheap? That's actually kind of tempting.
Fortunately, when we move to NOLA we'll probably have a better opportunity to set things up for two people to work there and stay sane! Poor Anthracite pretty much had to *find* room for me in an apartment already optimized for one...

The sort of 3 sided stand in one's are about 200. Not great but workable. Bigger 4 sided ones get more expensive.
But at least when you get to NO there's a big music community so you might be able to find a decent used one on Craigslist or something.
