Oh thank goodness. It turns out that the craziest theory on the topic is definitely a satire. It took me a while to find the source article people were talking about. Bear in mind, some people were repeating this theory as something someone had seriously advanced. *facepalm*

There's also some interesting stuff out there about why exactly it's spelled "Winnie-ther-Pooh" with an "r" in certain places. It gets into British regional phonetics and whatnot.
