food, hypochondria, plea for reassurance
Okay, so... we just noticed the turkey we've been eating all week is FOUR MONTHS past its listed sell-by date.
That... that has to be a misprint, right? Turkey that far past its expiration would be REALLY obviously spoiled, right?
It was... a bit moister than usual but not slimy, no discoloration, and it really just smelled like mediocre turkey. Surely, it couldn't still be that close to normal if it were THAT expired, right?
Honestly, this is pretty traumatic for me, so if people in a saner condition than I am could reply fairly soon, I'd be real grateful. Peg and I have already argued over this (I think we're okay now) because I'm just so fucking stressed out over this, especially the TWO MONTH max incubation period I'm seeing for Listeria.
re: food, hypochondria, plea for reassurance
@Phorm I REALLY sympathize, I've struggled with that for most of my life. *hugs* Have you started a health-worry journal by any chance? YMMV but I've found it extremely reassuring to have a litany of all the times I've worried about making myself sick and nothing bad actually happened...

@zebratron2084
I have not, but good gracious I'm going to now.
Every day is a new anxiety, so having a record of them all would - at the very least - be a complete record to share with the doc. Thank you.
And I'm glad that answers are being acquired on your end! I can't imagine it's anything BUT a misprint, but golly do I sympathize with the worry. Still, misprint, without a doubt.
