@joshua Basically, it was a movement started by the French surrealist Alfred Jarry, which would supposedly be to metaphysics what metaphysics was to physics. The same way surrealist art uses dream imagery to portray profound truths about human irrationality, pataphysics imitates the form of science but deliberately deals only with crazy, ironic, illogical things. For example, Jarry tried to claim, tongue-in-cheek, that gravity was just a remarkable series of coincidences. :)
@joshua On a related note, have you ever seen the British TV series Look Around You?
Come to think of it... yeah, what they're doing is arguably pure pataphysics comedy. There's nothing else on TV like it.
