Peeking over at Umbra like every five minutes to make sure they're still breathing and stuff, despite Umbra having absolutely no signs of any health issues.
I'm so fucking grateful I never had children. I am far, far too prone to fretting over whoever I care about, especially if they're eensy and vulnerable.
I was like this when my nieces and nephews were babies, too. Absolute. Ongoing. Terror. (They're all fine and, like, in college and stuff.)

I am childless/child-free, but even so, whenever there is a small toddler in my neighborhood out in public, I'm watching like a hawk in case the child wanders into something dangerous.
It's not really a decision, it just... is. I suppose I embrace it in the spirit of being part of the village it takes to raise a child.
