@zebratron2084 One of the things I like about the show is that it has a very clear thesis that 'understanding one another' only functions when both sides are committed to actually hearing the other out, -not- when it's 'one side bullies the other into agreeing.' Friendship takes WORK, and it's work all involved parties have to be willing to do. If someone's negotiating on false pretenses, or worse, won't consider they could be -wrong-, it just falls apart.

@hystericempress Yeah, this and Adventure Time are basically my antidote to—as much as I loved them in their own ways—Steven Universe and MLP, for exactly that reason.

@zebratron2084 Steven at least seems to sort of get that, given what a huge theme 'don't put people on a pedestal, especially when they are desperately begging you not to do so' is, especially later on.
MLP, however, has no such defense.
