re: Pol, virus
@Phorm @001zlnv Currently I'm absolutely unafraid of my own (or Peg's) physical health because the mortality rate is so low among otherwise healthy people.
But I'm pretty scared for my parents, especially my already-ailing stepdad, and scared what's going to happen on the sociopolitical level with absolute reality-resistant twits like Trump and Pence in charge.
And I'm scared for humanity in general, because "OK just don't roll under 5 on a d1000" is not all that comforting if DAMN NEAR EVERYBODY has to roll...
re: Pol, virus
Same.
I have no dependants, and if someone is going to die of it I'd rather it be me.
But my dad is in fairly poor health and I'm worried that he or mom will get this thing.
There's also a fairly high likelihood that if it crops up in my area I may be out of work for weeks or months.
re: Pol, virus
@001zlnv @zebratron2084 I'm not at liberty to say anything publicly, but I will say we're working on it from the chemical angle.
We have a good shot, but there are logistics issues galore. Should have more info by the end of April, but that feels a ways out.
Small hopes, though.
re: Pol, virus
@zebratron2084 @001zlnv I'm extremely scared for my own parents, as well. And terrified of the unfolding response from the current administration.
Also, the WHO have said this virus is in fact deadly to younger people, even in industrialized nations. We've seen plenty of people in their 30s get knocked down hard and need hospitalization - Which will become increasingly difficult as this progresses. I'm not saying it's a certainty, just that people are underselling it. It ain't the flu.
Also, it's cropped up in the wild in my neck of the woods, so fuck me I guess.
