Using the phrase "educate yourself" in any context is a good way to make me dislike you. I won't mute you. I won't fail to balance it against any good traits you have. But I will be intensely suspicious of you for a while, because as far as I'm concerned, it translates precisely to "Why can't you just make sense and _agree_ with me? Are you seriously going to make me have to make my argument _myself_?!?"
Nobody who uses that phrase is EVER happy when someone does go study an issue... and just comes back with a more sophisticated argument for why they disagree. :p
This isn't a subtoot or anything. Nobody here has committed that offense recently. But it came up on birdsite, and it reminded me how instantly it can sour me on someone's opinion, even if I agree with it.

Is "Lubricate yourself" still ok to use?

[🐯]: As always, tigers are the sole exception to the above. You should educate yourself about tigers and learn all that you can about their winning smiles, boundless good natures, incomparable beauty, warm soft bellies, and indisputable majesty. I recommend that you start with the Gospel According To Saint Hobbes: https://calvinandhobbes.fandom.com/wiki/G.R.O.S.S.#Password Do not educate yourself with anything that says bad things about tigers. You should also learn as many ways as possible to prepare tuna and salmon, and be prepared to do so at anytime.
