birdsite, uspol, grump, shenanigans
i seem to be in "how many followers can i lose today" mode over on birdsite and i regret absolutely fucking nothing
getting real tired of random Woke People issuing linguistic proclamations to the rest of the world. criticize, yes. debate, yes. appeal to our humanity, yes. absolutely. things like ableism and queerphobia really do exist and language really can be very damaging.
but tell us What All We Now Must Never Do And Say because you (all one of you) got together one morning with a burr up your ass and decided to proclaim your Objective Moral Revelation to the world, honestly i'm just gonna either block you or eat you depending on my mood
re: birdsite, uspol, grump, shenanigans, rant, langauge, idpol
(naturally it should go without saying that if you *actively* mock or shame anyone for *actually* having continence issues, you're a far, far bigger piece of shit than anyone complaining about "Diaper Dan" on Twitter and I don't wanna know *you* either, but I don't think that could ever apply to anyone I know here... and I'm willing to double and triple down that THIS ISNT WHAT THAT FUCKING HASHTAG IS ABOUT)

If someone is -literally- having an issue with an OCWAMP (Objectively Correct Woke And Moral Proclamation over a space, hypher, word or oxnard comma usage, because I'm totally making and stealing this as a thing now), then they are being StrongSad, and I'm either gonna call them DairyQveen or TheloniusDump.

@JulieSqveakaroo "I already told you, I don't want to be called that any more! I MADE A MISTAKE!"
re: birdsite, uspol, grump, shenanigans, rant, langauge, idpol
oh this goes decatuple if your Objectively Correct Woke Moral Proclamation revolves around a space, hyphen, or word order
and that is not to say that those differences *can't* matter -- it's that maybe just maybe the connotations you apply to those things aren't universal or objective after all, and just maybe not everybody's gotten the memo yet that This Is How We're Doing It Now.
or maybe they have a valid reason why it's ok in that context, because THAT'S HOW WORDS WORK -- above all this comes down to the fact I cut my philosophical teeth on post-structuralist philosophy.
word are not magical sigils of power that pull energy exclusively from, say, The Primordial Plane of Ableism -- they are contingent and contextual and slippery by their very nature.
my personal experience tells me that trying to treat words like they're very cut-and-dried little units of Perfect Meaning is not only inaccurate, it's fucking dangerous, probably responsible for a solid plurality of Bad Human Ideas.
i've said it before: having a idealized world where there's zero possibility for linguistic "harm" due to an unpleasant connotation is like having a world where everything is perfectly sterilized of all microbes. you're just gonna give everybody an allergy, you absolute fucking doofus.
is doofus canceled yet? can i still say doofus?
