@spacewastrel@yiff.life I'm deliberately being a pain in the ass for fun, but mammals and fish have entirely different digestive systems so I can see that actualy being incredibly useful knowledge for getting the fuck out of the thing that ate you. O:)

Also, there's a big difference between "person actively being swallowed" and "hearing about people getting swallowed 2,000 miles away." The latter allows for a... certain reflection that the former does not. ;p I think that if being devoured by whales were to become a social problem, yeah, eventually it would become time to sit down and discuss how we're going to formulate a plan to deal with it... and I can't see how not knowing what the hell taxonomic order you're dealing with wouldn't be KINDA IMPORTANT. :p
