kink, math, mild psych/medical/therapy

i wasn't joking

"numbers on body" is actually core kink for me

i could probably occupy a therapist for three or four months with why because damned if i know and i feel like i should, there's definitely something deep to unearth there :)

re: kink, math, mild psych/medical/therapy

genuinely a little sad to see that there's virtually zero usage of "arithmophilia" to refer to an actual kink/paraphilia (i found one google result and it was a tongue-in-cheek list of kinks an artist would do; there were several hundred entries and they were clearly copied from somewhere else)

i can't be the only one, i can't

obsessive pointless research, kink (is that redundant?)

ok a little more research shows that there are two main sites that mention "arithmophilia." Every other source seems to copy from one of them. Both are... pretty neat, actually, but are clearly just etymological wankery.

in fact, one outright admits these are purely hypothetical and were all cribbed from a list of phobias.

@zebratron2084 Somewhere I have a Fantastic Four comic book I got in Singapore in the 2000s where they battle an unstoppable (computer?) villain whose body is a whole great mass of mathematical symbols. I'll see if I can find and get some snaps to you.

Spoiler: Unstoppable Math Demon gets stopped, although in a way that's dumb in the way Silver Age stories are dumb, so I remember liking it that way.

@Austin_Dern Oh I would be very entertained by that! n.n

re: obsessive pointless research, kink (is that redundant?)

@zebratron2084 Found what turns out to be just part 1 of this; I know I have parts 2 and 3 somewhere. This is a Singaporean reprint so I don't know the 'real' circa 2002 books it was in.

Reed Richards invents a subspace-linked PDA and what do you know but it decides to attack Ben and Sue when they just want to see a movie.

ArithMonster (to call it something) can do the T-1000 recovery from being smashed ... and has a tender side!

re: obsessive pointless research, kink (is that redundant?)

@zebratron2084 ... Have to say, "liquid-morphing subspace monster made of calculus symbols and PDA energy out to destroy the world apart from the one creature it loves" seems like somebody was keysmashing on someone's Buttons.
