(My feelings about the 1960's counterculture and how much it failed us by misidentifying scientists and engineers as the Bad Guys are... complicated and the sort of thing never to bring up near me at a cocktail party. Suffice it to say I still haven't completely given up on being chromed and/or laminated, and you need an industrial base for that, flowerbabies.)
@Austin_Dern That's the real shame of it. I know there was a lot more diversity than that, and modern computing has some *thoroughly* countercultural roots. It's been a relief seeing some of that kinda get added back to the mainstream historical memory of the 60s and 70s in more recent pop culture...
Do you happen to recall the title of that book?
@Austin_Dern Thanks, going straight on the wishlist!
(I had a bunch of disclaimers and exceptions to add to that, but I accidentally reloaded my browser and I don't feel like retyping them. ^__^ )
