I guess I'm required to love the president now, or something?
I'm kind of getting physically ill at all the stuff flying around right now about how he's responsible for peace in Korea - Nevermind that no such thing happened.
I mean, even if I'm being considerably generous and I /give him that/, somehow that erases all the vile, putrid shit that's happened and continues to happen?
Why is it that even in the Bay Area of fucking California, people are saying that "He's getting shit done, and that's why people don't like him"? Why is the overwhelming opinion of this piece of human refuse and all he stands for, and the piles of garbage that put him in power, being regarded as saviors - And that all who are upset about the very real threat these assholes represent are somehow overreacting?
Why does it feel like the whole world is fucking insane?
What I hate most about all this is that this is where my head gets fuzzy. The overwhelming support this establishment has amongst the populous, even in my neck of the woods, makes me start to question my own judgement.
Like, what if /I'm/ the one who's wrong? How would I even know? I'm not sure, but it seems so much more likely than everyone else being wrong.

@Phorm Listen, maybe I'm 30 years behind the times -- in fact, I know I am -- but I'm still waiting for an explanation of how the fuck Reagan supposedly won the Cold War by bankrupting the USSR with an arms race... when the economic history of the Soviet Union I read in college made a pretty damn good case that they fell because they had no DOMESTIC economy to speak of...

@Phorm We "won" the Cold War with blue jeans, washing machines, and Frank Zappa records, and I suspect we're "winning" North Korea with rice, USBs, and pirate radio. We could have basically hit Kim with a feather at this point.

@Phorm My personal opinion is that it's for the same reason one tells a narcissistic mother that their hellion of a child is very clever and well-behaved. It conveniently prevents one more useless damn conflict, and concedes an even lower standard of behavior in exchange for a ten-minute break from the complaining. "It's good you did that, Anthony. Real good."
But then, I might not be a representative opinion anymore myself.

@Phorm Or to extend that belated metaphor: When Anthony wishes someone genuinely bad into the cornfield, it's not that we're not all still utterly horrified the gods let him ever get this power. It's that we're all kind of relieved he actually did something useful with his powers, instead of disappearing another aunt who took away one of his toys. And that's "Good boy, Anthony." It's better than Anthony when he's mad at *us*.

Why is the world acting otherwise, is my issue.
Why is everyone lauding this situation. Beyond even THIS situation, why are reasonable people worshiping at this alter.
This is the most clearcut case of utter malignant evil to ever step into the sunshine. Why are my neighbors in FUCKING SAN FRANCISCO kissing his ring?
The magnitude makes me highly suspicious that I'm on the wrong side of things.
