The reply by @Flamingsword reminded me that my friend @edsaperia once came up with what I think is a wonderful idea. He called it Cryptofloricon. There's an alphabet of messages you can encrypt using combinations of flowers. You would order such a bouqet to be delivered to someone, and they could look up what the message means. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there's a working prototype of the actual ordering, just the alphabet.
