Btw for any new folks around who are gamers: the tag # gameing is part of Mastodon culture, signifying gaming for "the rest of us": everybody who's a gamer but who's not ~~hardcore, who maybe isn't even very "good" or "skilled" but just enjoys vidya gaems.

Reacting to a Discord convo.
Mascot characters are a tool to sell games and have been since the 80s. The fact that prominent indie game companies with mascots are contributing them to crossover games like BrawlOut, Blade Strangers, and Crystal Crisis isn't, like, them biting the devil's fruit or anything. Good things are still possible even with the profit motive!
