A relatively-popular metal band put out a new album today and their sound has shifted dramatically and I'm really enjoying it but I can already tell most people are going to hate it because it doesn't sound like what the band put out in 2008.

@CrownedRat Equilibrium, a German death metal band who got known for putting out one of the best folk metal albums ever but have been slowly drifting from the folk-influenced sound ever since and have basically entirely abandoned it at this point

@CrownedRat If nothing else, I would highly recommend Erdentempel, which was their first album post-Rekreatur. It is almost, but not quite, on the same level as Sagas.
Also, sorry for accidentally -splaining the band to you, I didn't know you were already a fan so I was just covering my bases =P
