Considering the state of things, and the boldfaced fact that they will not get better, I start to wonder if it's not wise to essentially hide amidst those who would harm me.
They have the power, and nothing will strip it from them. It might be worth selling my soul a second time to them and pledging allegiance. The risk of retaliation will drastically drop, and if I can convince myself to really go along with it, the world will look like everything is going beautifully, because those in charge are doing the right thing.
At least then I'd be able to sleep and rest and live like everything's grand. Even if I'll be a monster from the outside, why care? I'd never go out there again.

@Phorm One you'd tear yourself to bits anyway. Two facists are facists. Assuming you're right (I don't think you are) there's always another Other to root out. Always another enemy real or imagined, even if it was "friend*/" yesterday

@Doephin It'd be a matter of truly believing it's all correct. It's not impossible to do. Particularly if I convince myself of it's expedience.
I also doubt I'd ever be part of that other. If you gave my a Tiki torch and a polo shirt, they'd 100% consider me one of their own.
Not kidding. I legitimately have family and friends who are surprised when I tell them I'm not Republican.
