USPol (~ --> --), Raining on the parade
I'm as delighted as anyone that the motherfucker has been impeached. However, once that dopamine hit wears off, a few things to keep in mind:
1) This is going to the Senate quickly, where they've made no bone about how they don't plan for the trial to be impartial. They've said they support the God King in all things, and will vote to acquit him promptly.
2) The media narrative of "IMPEACHED!" will be SWIFTLY replaced by the media narrative of "ACQUITTED!"
3) That will be used as a cudgel moving forward. He was acquitted, so any criticism is sour grapes. The media will absolutely buy this, and they will absolutely sell it too.
4) This move will ABSOLUTELY give the GOP the 2020 election. It will energize his base, the acquittal will dampen leftward turnout, and we'll get four more years of worsening conditions.
5) He's already said the impeachment means he gets three terms. And what the God King wants, he gets without question, as we've seen.
Great work, America. You just preserved the fascist's power.

@Phorm 3) applies regardless, the propaganda factory can use "you didn't even bother to charge him" just as well. I don't think 4 and 5 follow.

@Doephin
I know that you're right on (3), but the fact of the matter is that this move allows the GOP to control the narrative in non-propaganda outlets, too. The national news shifts immediately to his innocence once this hits the senate, and that will absolve him in the minds of millions that wouldn't be thinking of it that way otherwise.
4) and 5) absolutely follow. Any talking point about his crimes are now off the table indefinitely. Any attempt to discuss them will backfire on any candidate.
I mean, nevermind that I don't think the left needs the help losing 2020 at this point. They're already eating their own so severely the GOP have assured victory.
5) Is happening for sure, too. What Emperor GodKing wants, he gets. He bends reality to his will, and we're all at his knee regardless.
