@krinndnz

Good gracious, what? After having something so well regulated and tightly controlled as the MAID cocktail, to just hand it over and assume no one will misuse it feels like a systemic failure.

As the younger party in this story proves, they'll always make a better idiot.

Also shocked at the route of administration and the method here. That kind of a cocktail seems less humane to me than something like inert gas.

@Phorm @krinndnz If it goes *correctly* it's fine. High dose opiate puts you to sleep, breathing stops, that is that.

Dunno why it burned going down, but my suspicion given the "referred for alcohol abuse" comment is they mixed it with high proof booze.

@Doephin @krinndnz

Nitrogen still feels more humane and direct. No possibility for whatever this was happening, and generally less toxic unless administered properly.

But I guess giving someone a liquid vial of stuff is easier than a gas canister.

@Phorm @Doephin The article claims they optimize further for easy distribution — they give out a powder that the patient can mix into whatever. So I guess the effort all goes into access control, which seems like a reasonable tradeoff because that's something the system already does at high volume.
