@hystericempress How "crunchy" is the game? I'm not the sort to micromanage a zillion stats and modifiers with dozens of ways to interact; "Shattered Pixel Dungeon" is about my speed.
@ElectricKeet Also a bonus: you can go in the game's options and just Turn Off permadeath if you want. Which I recommend, it's better as an old-school adventure than it is as a roguelike.
@hystericempress Fair enough! And I do enjoy an easy playthrough to know what I'm up against before I do the permadeath grind. Thanks for the recommend!
@ElectricKeet Yep. I definitely advise starting with a True Kin to learn the basic ropes of combat and play, they're very much 'classic crawler' mode, but long-term, mutants are more versatile and more fun because of the ways they can just break the balance curve over their knee, ESPECIALLY builds focusing heavily on ESP powers.
@ElectricKeet It's really not that complicated. You can MAKE IT more complicated, but it's definitely less complex(and easier to break, too) than, say, Nethack. Pick a melee combat skill, pick a ranged combat skill, pick some other options(mutations if you're a mutant and cybernetics if you're a True Kin), and generally make Toughness your best stat. Bing bang boom, that's chargen and build-making.
