@ElectricKeet 🤦🏽♀️
remembering a blog post we saw that coined the term "Procrustean epistemologies" for something like this (cw: discussion of medical errors and near-death): https://siderea.dreamwidth.org/1540620.html
@packbat That is a chilling read... in part because none of it surprises me anymore.
Past medication fuckery.
@packbat There was the time my spouse dropped off a new prescription for estradiol. Given its tendency to thicken the blood, their doctor also had them taking aspirin as a blood thinner. Trouble is... the pharmacist read the estradiol scribble as warfarin, itself a strong blood thinner. Cue weeks of increasing irritability from hormone withdrawal... and slowly increasing issues with lightheadedness and random bruising. It was that last that really got our attention, so we sorted things out and no crisis came of it. As a bonus, once we went to correct the issue, we got to see a pharmacist turn ghost-sighting pale!
