what was it exactly that led to so much good and _long_ music being composed for commodore 64 games?
@Dex It's far from the only system with a dedicated audio chip, though.
@Felthry true, but it was one of the first chips of its type and most of the other computers of the era couldn't match it
@Dex I have to wonder why, then, games on e.g. the SNES or Sega Genesis didn't get similarly complex soundtracks.
@Felthry Time restrictions, composers being able to easily release stuff for the C64 by themselves rather than being reliant on publishers/Sega/Nintendo, graphics taking up much more of the ROM space?
