Boktai is one of those fantastic series that got very little attention and got left by the wayside not long after its debut. This piece, played near the beginning of the game, opens the game with a feeling of adventure, setting the scene for what's to come quite well, in my opinion.

I do love a piece that makes good use of the GBA's sound chip. It may not be high-fidelity sound, but that slight bit of chiptuniness really makes it, if the composer knows how to handle it well. And I think Hibino does.

Like the Wild ARMs series, Boktai has that unusual sort of setting and theming that combines high fantasy, sci-fi, and western in a way that just appeals to me, and the music reflects that as well, with a feeling reminiscent of a spaghetti western movie... Just, with vampires and zombies.
