@Felthry this is a question I haven't actually seen answered yet IIRC
at a guess, maybe since it isn't meant to happen they didn't care about setting the death animation or type properly
or maybe in earlier builds, the wind that blows you away could force you OOB so no hat was added to the OOB failsafe death
