thought: have any species other than humans (or those human-in-body nonhumans) ever been observed to dance to music?

@Felthry I remember hearing about some birds dancing to music

*checks online*

bbc.com/future/story/20121030- (content warning: weird evo-psych tangent at end) says a number of parrots and also an Asian elephant show up on YouTube dancing to the music

there's a bit where the article says "One thing that parrots, humans, and elephants have in common is that they are all vocal learners, meaning they can change the composition of the sounds they make, by changing pitch or the order of a song, for example"; I remember seeing someone else hypothesize ability to mimic sounds as the criterion, which sounds related to that one

@Felthry I found some research on this! If dancing is "moving to a beat without training", only parrots and elephants so far have been seen dancing. Other animals move excitedly with music, but maybe they don't hear beats/rhythms the same way.
